Aveda's Catwalk for Water

The Aveda Institute of Portland is holding a charity event, Catwalk for Water, on Thursday April 17th at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. The theme of the show is “art” and there will be four categories inspired by Warhol, Picasso, Dali, and Monet. All of the work featured is done by students, so this event is great support for them as well! Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased online from Aveda’s website (via PayPal) or by stopping by the Aveda Institute of Portland at 325 NW 13th Ave. All proceeds benefit Columbia River Keepers. If you cannot attend the event but still want to donate, click here or come in on April 8th and have any salon, spa, or nail service done (all money will be donated!)

American Diabetes Association Alert Day

Are you at risk for type 2 diabetes? Nearly 26 million people across the country and 1 million people here in Oregon/SW Washington are affected by diabetes and pre-diabetes, 1/3 of those people don't even know they have it. March 25th is American Diabetes Association Alert Day, a one-day "walk up call" asking the American public to take the FREE Diabetes Risk Test to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Share the test with everone you care about -- friends, family, and colleagues. With each person that takes the test and knows their risk, the Association is that much closer to reaching their goals to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all those affected by diabetes (and $5 is donated by Boar's Head Brand!) Visit www.diabetes.org/oregonswwashington or email oregonswwashington@diabetes.org to get more information how you can be involved in Alert Day within your office or community.
