Henry Winkler lends star power to Park Academy Fundraiser

For many with dyslexia, a neurological condition, support and resources are difficult to find. In fact, only recently educators have truly understood how to support students with dyslexia and recognize their true strengths and gifts. Park Academy has been leading this initiative in Oregon for the past ten years, empowering students and their families. On June 16th, it’ll welcome some serious star power to help, at its second annual fundraising dinner. An Evening with Henry Winkler, at Park Academy will include a dinner and oral auction; Mr. Winkler will share his personal experience with dyslexia and how he overcame his struggles to be an award winning actor, director, producer and author. Funds from the event will support the educational environment through its scholarship program and will help students who struggle with dyslexia and other attention learning issues to thrive. To buy tickets, visit  www.parkacademy.org or call Elizabeth at 503.594.8780. Tickets are $250 per person, including cocktails, dinner, entertainment and Henry Winkler speaking.

Landmark Ford Lincoln presents Ford Focus on Hunger!

As part of Ford Focus on Hunger, Landmark Ford Lincoln is joining Ford dealers throughout the Northwest to collect jars of peanut butter for St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry. The peanut butter drive runs thru May 21st to respond to the increased demand for this important staple during the summer months, when many children lose access to school nutrition programs. It is estimated nearly 24 percent of children are unsure how their next meal will be provided and when school is out during the summer months, local food banks carry a larger responsibility to feed kids. To make a donation, please bring jars of peanut butter to the Service Department at Landmark Ford Lincoln (12000 SW 66th Ave in Tigard) between the hours of 7am-midnight Monday thru Friday or from 8am-4:30pm on Saturday. Additionally, Portland Timbers fans can bring peanut butter to the match against New York City FC at Providence Park on May 15. Last year’s drive collected nearly 30,000 lbs. of peanut butter, feeding kids throughout the summer. Those unable to donate in person can also give online at www.fordfeedskids.org by clicking on the food bank of their choice to make a cash donation. This drive is part of a five-state campaign in the Pacific Northwest by Ford dealers to support their community food banks and to make sure no child goes hungry this summer.
