Sleep Country Foster Kids Coat Drive

Over 20,000 Northwest children find themselves living in foster care at any given time, many of which have entered with little to no possessions. Help Sleep Country USA provide foster children with the little things that often make a big difference — school supplies and sports shoes, properly fitting clothing, or a gift during the holidays. With continued support, Sleep Country strives to help foster kids beat the odds. At the Sleep Country Foster Kids website, you can learn more. Not everyone can be a foster parent, but anyone can help a foster child.

JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes

The JDRF Walk is an impactful way to raise money for critically needed type 1 diabetes (T1D) research and show your support for the millions of people affected by this serious disease. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas loses the ability to produce insulin — a hormone essential to turning food into energy. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle. It requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on injected insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure. That's why JDRF holds more than 200 Walks across the country every year to raise money for JDRF — the only global organization with a strategic research plan to end T1D. On September 28th join JDRF at Oaks Park for a 5k to raise awareness for type 1 diabetes and money for JDRF. Registration begins at 9am, walk begins at 11am. Click here for more information.
